Mike is an all in all Bayonne New Jersey product who barely escaped cancer in his teens, hence the subject\/title of the album. His cronies are mostly Michael Clayton Moore on vocals and Dave \u201cGhost\u201d Manheim, who handles vocals, guitars, bass and keys. More guitars comes courtesy of \u201cKilroy\u201d, sometimes Mike sings to, and, an eyebrow raiser, Richard Holmgren of WOLF! <\/p>\n
From the humble beginnings of a barely ok opener in the shape of \u201cVenom and Piss\u201d, the group accelerates with the cancerous track \u201cRise Up from the Grave\u201d. A great refrain is surrounded by a classic metal styled track and it all goes straight to the heart of an eighties aficionado. Some variation is provided, necessary at most but it varies from GUNS\u00b4N\u00b4ROSES styled punk to metal in a harsh way. That affects some tracks that don\u00b4t really sound like they come from the heart. But apart from a very similar cover of KISS \u201cParasite\u201d and the \u201coverly charming\u201d \u201cSuzie with an Uzi\u201d, plus the slightly too rough and less refrain focused \u201cMonster\u00b4s Ball\u201d The MPG delivers! \u201cTaste My Fist\u201d is Mike getting back at cancer with a metal vengeance, \u201cBow to the Queen\u201d is revenge on an ex. sister, and the sad but caressing \u201cDust\u201d deals with 9\/11. But most of all, there is \u201cThese Are the Days\u201d! Did you grow up on metal in the eighties? If so you will relate to the track, if you like rough JOHN WAITE-like story telling you will enjoy the track, and most of all \u2013 there is nothing doctored about the way it happened. All in all, some flaws, but a mighty hail to Mike for being a metal warrior in heart and soul!<\/p>\n
