THE GROTESQUERY rose to prominence in early 2009, and here is the second opus. Formed by Rogga Johansson of PAGANIZER and BONE GNAWER fame and Kam Lee, the voice of MANTAS\/DEATH and MASSACRE. Completing the blasphemy on bass and drums respectively are Johan Berglund and Brynjar Helgetun. The first album, \u201cTales of the Coffin Born\u201d, was a major hit and success, and now\u2026I fear they might repeat the achievement. <\/p>\n
Fear, horror, H.P. Lovecraft and Edgar Allan Poe all infest this release. The sheer brutality, melody and ease of reinventing the scene are ubiquitous. Opener \u201cThe Madness (Of Mason Hamilton)\u201d is very good, but no more in this collection of songs. True grandeur is displayed in \u201cTsathoggua \u2013 The Black God of N\u00b4Kai\u201d is rather unique in style, mixing Old School with a magic riff and guitar patterns, plus the heaviness of a luxury cruiser\u2026all in a melodic surrounding, bravo! The ominous \u201cThe Cthulhu Prophecy\u201d has a thunder worthy of a space shuttle and finesse included. The only somewhat stale moment is \u201cAmongst Black Slime and Mushroom People\u201d, which doesn\u00b4t quite stand up to the rest. But this is the real deal in horror death metal in 2012!<\/p>\n
