The Moody Blues will release a definitive career-spanning box set entitled
\n\u2018Timeless Flight\u2019 on June 3rd 2013.
\nHoused in a heavy-duty LP-sized hard-back slipcase, this lavish box set

\nHayward, John Lodge and Graeme Edge,
\nhave released 24 albums in a career
\nspanning nearly five decades. They have sold over 50 million albums,
\nearning them eighteen platinum discs and all manner of awards including an
\nIvor Novello for Outstanding Contribution to British Music and the Golden
\nTicket award for selling the most tickets at Madison Square Garden, and have
\neven had the honour of appearing in an episode of \u201cThe Simpsons\u201d.
\nTheir classic album \u201cDays of Future Passed\u201d heralded the era of the concept
\nalbum and elaborate sleeve artwork that would epitomise the Progressive
\nRock movement that followed.
\nFormed in 1964 in Birmingham
\nthe Moody Blues
\ncame from the same
\ngene pool that would give the world Traffic, the Move, Led Zeppelin, Black
\nSabbath and Slade. The original line-up of the band (Denny Laine, Graeme
\nEdge, Clint Warwick, Ray Thomas and Mike Pinder) scored a global number
\none hit with \u201cGo Now\u201d, but struggled to follow up this success and Warwick
\nand Laine left the group to be replaced by John Lodge and Justin Hayward
\nrespectively in 1966. For the next few months the band crafted a new set of
\noriginal compositions that would change their fortunes.
\nDrastically re-thinking their musical approach, the band began to compose
\nnew material in a uniquely different style. Eager to recoup some of the
\nmoney they had invested in the band, Decca asked
\nthe Moody Blues
\nto
\nrecord a rock version of Dvorak\u2019s New World Symphony to demonstrate a
\nnew stereo system they were launching known as \u2018Deramic\u2019 sound. Instead,
\nthe Moodies, along with producer Tony Clarke, used the orchestral settings
\nfor a suite of their own songs, which resulted in \u2018Days Of Future Passed\u2019, a
\nrecord that was as groundbreaking as any of that era and featured the
\nband\u2019s signature song, \u2018Nights In White Satin\u2019. This proved a turning point
\nfor the band and they soon became acknowledged masters of lushly
\norchestrated psychedelic rock and trailblazers in the use of the mellotron,
\nwhich they used both live and in the studio to mimic the sounds of a full
\norchestra. Era defining albums such as \u2018In Search Of The Lost Chord\u2019, \u2018On
\nThe Threshold Of A Dream\u2019, \u2018To Our Children\u2019s Children\u2019s Children\u2019, \u2018A
\nQuestion Of Balance\u2019, \u2018Every Good Boy Deserves Favour\u2019 and \u2018Seventh
\nSojourn\u2019 followed and
\nthe Moody Blues
\nhave continued to release albums
\nthrough the Eighties and Nineties and into the Noughties and thrilling
\naudiences with their live shows all over the world.

\nI suppose that it is our songs, and the way we interpret them that has seen
\nus travel so far,\u201d says Justin Hayward. \u201cIt means so much to us that some of
\nour recordings have really meant something to people.\u201d
