By the time they go on stage the venue is already fairly full so they have a large crod to impress. NAO play some very good prog rock with a strong electronic feel to it. Its certainly nowhere near as heavy as Anathema but their brand of prog goes down well with the crowd and no doubt will have earned them some new fans. Their set includes several tracks from their album ”Grappling Hooks” as well as a number of new tracks.

By the time Anathema take to the stage, the venue is absolutely jammed full of people. Anathema kick off the show by playing their 2010 album ”We’re here because we’re here” in its entirety before moving on to some older material. The band are clearly thrilled to be playing their first sold out London show – a great way to end their UK tour. There is a marked contrast between the bands newer material and their older stuff so playing a set made up of all new stuff followed by the older stuff could easily misfire and see fans of the newer material leaving early, but in the end they manage to keep the entire crowd happy throughout the entire set. Overall this was an excellent nights entertainment and the band deserve their slot at the High Voltage festival this summer.

Anathema photos: http://www.festivalphoto.net/index.php?page=2&concertID=17894
North Atlantic Oscillation photos: http://www.festivalphoto.net/index.php?page=2&concertID=17914

North Atlantic Oscillation setlist:

77 hours
Call count
One pure tone
Expert with a Himeter
Empire waste
Mirador
Hollywood has ended
Ritual

Anathema setlist:

Thin Air
Summernight Horizon
Dreaming Light
Everything
Angels Walk Among Us
Presence
A Simple Mistake
Get Off, Get Out
Universal
Hindsight

Deep
Pitiless
Forgotten Hopes
One Last Goodbye
Empty
Release
Flying
Wish You Were Here (Pink Floyd cover)
Closer
A Natural Disaster
Fragile Dreams

Tonights event at the Scala venue is completely sold out with a large queue forming outside well before the doors open.
