Extraordinary musical chameleon Damon Albarn brings his first solo album to this year’s Roskilde Festival in Denmark. The line-up also includes dark alternative rock from Interpol and Warpaint.

Damon Albarn incarnates like few others Roskilde Festival’s ambitions: Quality, curiosity and exploration go hand in hand. Throughout his impressive career, he has been around Brit pop, Afro pop, alternative rock and even Chinese opera.

Later in 2014, Damon Albarn releases his first solo album, entitled Everyday Robots, and on that occasion he is confirmed for a live show at Denmark’s Roskilde Festival.

Roskilde Festival’s program director Anders Wahren says:

Roskilde Festival 2014 offers more contemporary US hip hop acts with the mythical Earl Sweatshirt flanked by rising stars A$AP Ferg and World’s Fair.

Earl Sweatshirt is just 19 years old, and he’s already entered the second phase of his career.

Once he was the mysteriously absent member of West Coast collective OFWGKTA, and now he has returned to the stage with his solo album Doris from 2013 which ranks among the most acclaimed hip-hop releases in the past year.

He is now confirmed for a show at this year’s Roskilde Festival in Denmark.

I år är det 30 år sedean Dexter Holland och Greg Kriesel gick på en tumultartad Social Distortion-spelning och kom på att de skulle starta ett eget band. Resultatet blev The Offspring. Vad passar väl bättre än att fira 30 år som band med en spelning på Bråvallafestivalen?

The Offsprings självbetitlade debutskiva släpptes 1989, men det var med uppföljaren ”Ignition” som karriären tog fart för att sedan explodera med 1994-års album ”Smash”. Med draghjälp av singlarna ”Come Out and Play” samt ”Self Esteem” sålde ”Smash” i elva miljoner exemplar, vilket var den dittills största försäljningsframgången för ett band utgivet via ett independentbolag. Sedan dess har det bara rullat på för The Offspring.

Axwell ^ Ingrosso är det nya projektet från Axwell och Sebastian Ingrosso. Efter sommarens succé på Ibiza med konceptet Departures fortsätter de två svenska housegiganterna att samarbeta genom att inta Bråvallafestivalen.

Även om det var via Swedish House Mafia som många fick upp ögonen för Axwell och Sebastian Ingrosso började historien knappast där. Axwell har, med bland annat två amerikanska Grammynomineringar i bagaget, hyllats som en av 2000-talets mest inflytelse remixare och redan 2009 blev Sebastian Ingrosso prisad som Highest New Entry, då han som nykomling tog sig in på 29:e plats på DJ Mag’s prestigefyllda Top 100 DJ-lista.

Det fanns alltså ett liv både före och efter Swedish House Mafia...

2013 var Imagine Dragons år! Förutom alla internationella framgångar blev de årets populäraste artist på Spotify hemma USA och ”Radioactive” var årets mest streamade låt. Dessutom kammade bandet nyligen hem en amerikansk Grammy för 2013-års ”Best Rock Performance”. Nu är det även klart att Imagine Dragons kommer till Bråvallafestivalen i sommar.

Egentligen var det redan 2012 som Las Vegas-bandet Imagine Dragons släppte debutskivan ”Nigth Visions”. Men det var under 2013 som allting tog fart på allvar. ”Radioactive” blev en internationell hit, som bland annat toppade den svenska singellistan. I USA låg ”Radioctive” över ett år på topplistan och slog rekord som den bäst säljande rocksingeln under den digitala eran.

Damon Albarn is the musical superman of the 21st century, though perhaps it is not that noticeable. The reason for the description is probable his high productivity. The Brit does so much that it is hard to keep up: rock, opera, African music… It is always interesting and cool. Plus: Albarn is getting better as the years go by. He is known first and foremost as the frontman of Blur, the group which staged such a fantastic performance at Werchter last year. And he has already been here with The Good, The Bad and The Queen. His greatest commercial successes have been achieved with Gorillaz. The second album “Demon Days” (2005) has been doing well on both sides of the Atlantic. After more than 20 years in the frontline, Albarn is now releasing a first album under his own name...

The Sziget crew is happy to announce the first names confirmed for the music program of this year’s ’Island of Freedom’ taking place between 11-18 August. Queens of the Stone Age, Calvin Harris, Placebo and many more will definitely be at Óbudai Island in the heart of Budapest this summer.

In 2014 the ’Island of Freedom’ will take place one week later than previously. Károly Gerendai, founder and main organizer of Sziget Festival, said: „It seems like a good decision that we put the date of Sziget one week later, because now we can announce better names compared to this time last year. To put it simple there is a better chance that bands are on a European tour at this part of the month.”

Sziget Festival was once again shortlisted amongst the top ten major European festivals...

The charismatic hellraiser and showman Rob Zombie takes his fiery rock show to Denmark’s Roskilde Festival 2014 for an unforgettable celebration of heavy metal and bad taste.

Rob Zombie is known for his extravagant shows in the depraved rock tradition of Alice Cooper and Ozzy Osbourne.

His devilish treats are based on cartoons, bloody horror movies and naturally raven-black hard rock that is danceable, scary and wickedly funny.

Roskilde Festival’s program director Anders Wahrén says:

”We’re convinced that Rob Zombie and his crew can deliver the goods to both the fans who have followed his career since his time with White Zombie, and to the unsuspecting festival guests who love a visually stunning rock show with lots of fire, smoke and costumes on Roskilde Festival’s stages”.

The line-up for Rock Werchter continues to take shape. There are another six additions. Dropkick Murphys will be blazing a trail of unbridled joy through Werchter on Thursday 3 July. The Naked and Famous will be performing their catchy Kiwi electropop at the festival on Friday 4 July. On Saturday 5 July, Agnes Obel, irresistible and oh so pure, and Imagine Dragons, now a strong contender for band of the year, have been added to the bill. Metronomy and Passenger, both in their very own way representatives of romantic beauty, will be at Werchter on Sunday 6 July. More names will follow soon.
