An interview with Jettblack

Festivalphoto spoke to Will Stapleton from Jettblack before the bands performance at the Relentless Garage in London.

Festivalphoto: Your debut album (Get your hands dirty) came out in 2010. When can we expect a second album?

Will: Its planned for May time. There’s no specific date yet, but that’s what we’re heading for. We’ve got a single coming out two or three weeks before that as well.

Festivalphoto: Is there a title for the album yet?

Will: There is but for some reason we haven’t told anyone yet. I’m not sure if I’m allowed to say it, I don’t know why not. It’s still being decided but we’ll announce that pretty soon.

Festivalphoto: How would you say the new album differs from the first one?

Will: Not by a lot. It’s still definitely us. There’s more diversity in a random way...

An interview with The Treatment

Festivalphoto spoke to Matt Jones (Vocals) and Dhani Mansworth (Drums) from The Treatment shortly before they went on stage at The Garage in London to play on a bill with fellow Spinefarm bands Jettblack, and Reckless Love as part of the HMV Next Big Thing event.

Festivalphoto: Your debut album (This might hurt) came out at the beginning of 2011 on Powerage records then was re-released a few months later on Spinefarm. What prompted the move to Spinefarm?

Dhani: The thing with Powerage, the whole idea behind the label was a kind of stepping stone, so we signed to them to get an album out and distributed, and stayed with them until another label was interested in us, which was Spinefarm who saw us on the Powerage tour we did, so we signed to Spinefarm and re-released the album with them.

Persuader

Medlemmar – Jens Karlsson/sång, Emil Norberg/gitarr, Daniel Sundbom/gitarr, Efraim Juntunen/trummor & Fredrik Hedström/bas

Bestival 2011 Review

Best of All?

Getting familiar with Besty 2011:
Iiinside were back again to enjoy one of the best UK festivals, and this year with a whole eclectic mix of acts to chose from, ranging from pop, rock, dance, rap and more!

Bestival is an award winning 3 day boutique music festival set at Robin Hill in the heart of the Isle of Wight.

The wonderful world of Bestival was born out of ten fun years of pioneering music events and record releases from Rob da Bank’s Sunday Best empire. The BBC Radio 1 leftfield DJ had a dream to one day create his vision of how the modern day festival should be. Along with Creative Director and wife Josie da Bank and co founders / partners John and Ziggy from Get Involved that dream is now fulfilled...

Pythia & Dragonforce – 100 club, London – 16/02/2012

Pythia opened the nights entertainment by skipping their usual intro tape and going straight into some fast heavy metal. By the time they were announced as support for tonights gig, it had long since sold out, so they couldnt rely on a crowd of their own fans to help cheer them on. They clearly weren’t fazed by this, and despite some sound problems early on, were clearly making a good impression with the Dragonforce fans and as the set went on more and more fans were headbanging, and the cheers between songs were getting louder and louder. Tonight’s set from Pythia consisted of four songs from their forthcoming second album as well as two from their debut album...

Camp Bestival 2011 Review

Camp Best!

This is our fourth year at Camp Bestival and our second experiencing it as a family affair. It is unique in that it is the only major festival that incorporates families without reducing the festival experience or sacrificing fabulous acts. In this way you get a real festival experience while introducing younger members of the family to festivals and camping. It is also won 3 awards – best new festival 2008 and best family festival 2009 and 2010 from the UK Festival Awards.
This years line up is on a par with previous years from older greats such as ABC, Blondie and Primal Scream to modern artists like Labyrinth, Eliza Doolittle, Mark Ronson and more….

Site and facilities:
The layout of the site makes each area really accessible without tiring out little feet or making man...

The Treatment, Jettblack & Reckless Love – Relentless Garage, London – 02/02/2012

Tonight at the Garage was part of the HMV Next Big Thing event showcasing up and coming talents. Tonights bands are all signed to Spinefarm, and the bands have played with each other before, but judging by how well these bands are going down on their tours and the quality of the albums they’re putting out, this may be one of the last times you’ll see all three on the same bill. Despite the bands having a strong appeal to the ladies, the crowd tonight is fairly evenly split between men and women, showing that these bands are not relying on their youth and looks, but actually play damn good music.

The night opened with young Cambridge band, The Treatment. The smallest of the three bands at the moment, these guys are growing in popularity rapidly...

Kadavrik – N.O.A.H.

N.O.A.H. is the third album from German metallers Kadavrik. Over the last nine years they’ve been playing some good melodic death metal, doing well in Germany but not making much impact internationally. I’m not sure why they haven’t made an impact, because based on the music they certainly deserve to be much better known.

Death metal riffs with some good heavy melodies put them at the heavier end of the melodic death metal spectrum, without losing the all important melodic element.

There are some great tracks on the album – ”Let my blood boil tonight” being a particularly good one. The album is unusual in having a mix of German and English songs, but the inability to understand the lyrics on the German language songs didnt detract from the enjoyment of the songs.

A very good album for fa...
