Metalcamp… nej detta år var festivalens namn Metaldays. Camp eller Days det är fortfarande samma festival som det varit sedan den startade år 2004. Självklart har festivalen vuxit till sig sedan dess både i antal besökare och antal dagar. Men arrangörerna vill behålla detta metalparadis i en storlek den nu har uppnått, vilket nog är smart om man lyssnar på vad en hel del av besökarna säger.
Metaldays är beläget nära Italienska gränsen i nordvästra Slovenien i en liten by vid namn Tolmin. Strax intill byn flyter floden Soča där diverse metalheads en gång om året träffas för att se sina favoritartister, festa, ragga och självklart svalka sig. I år låg temperaturen runt 35 grader i skuggan. Just skugga är på stora delar av festivalen svårfunnen...

En sprillans ny festival med stora headliners och ett helt nytt festivalområde. Väldigt många biljetter sålda för att vara en svensk festival (har hört siffror på 46 000). FKP Scorpio, en arrangör som varit med ett ganska bra tag i musikvärlden är de som ligger bakom festivalen. Efter förlusterna med Hultsfredsfestivalen (som numera är i Stockholm) så behövde FKP återhämta sig med nya satsningar och mål. Vad kan man då förvänta sig av detta? Ja den frågan är alltid svår att svara på men min första tanke var ”äntligen skall jag få se de gamla tonårsidolerna Green Day igen!”. Att Rammstein även fanns med i spelschemat gjorde ju inte saken sämre. Kan ju tilläggas att festivalen är strax utanför Norrköping på ett flygfält och festivalen var tre dagar lång...

In 2013 Sziget Festival officially became the Island of Freedom, emphasizing the concept behind the 20 year-old event. Besides great musical and non-musical programs, the visual experience provided by the festival also got a greater role.
