US folkstress Jenny Gillespie’s Belita EP out April 16th, featuring three collaborations with Sam Amidon

Jenny Gillespie’s new EP Belita is an intoxicating blend of folk, indie pop and post-rock. Produced by Jenny and multi-instrumentalist Shahzad Ismaily (Jolie Holland, Bonnie Prince Billy, Lou Reed) this is her third release after the lush chamber folk of Light Year (2009) and the ambient progressive pop of Kindred (2010).

After these musical journeys and turning thirty, Gillespie became more and more drawn to acoustic-based music, returning to the sound she loved when she first picked up a guitar as a teenager. She wanted to strip things down, while maintaining a slanted, atmospheric element to her work...

Los Angeles based singer Beth Hart has been confirmed to play the Isle of Wight festival on Sunday 24th June, alongside Bruce Springsteen and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.

Beth’s new single, “Sister”, which features Slash, is currently A-listed on BBC Radio 2, she headlines the London Shepherd’s Bush Empire on Saturday 25th February.

Shepherds Bush will be Beth’s biggest UK headline concert to date. It follows a whirlwind few months which saw the release of top-20 selling album “Don’t Explain”, a collection of soul classics with guitarist Joe Bonamassa, plus a rapturously received performance at London’s Camden Dingwalls last November...

Electronic pop singer/songwriter Howard Jones has today announced that he will host a new 4-part radio series entitled Electronic 80s with Howard Jones for the UK’s premiere 80s music radio station Absolute 80s. The hour-long show starts Sunday 4th March at 8pm, with subsequent shows airing on 11th March, 18th March and 25th March.

Steve Hackett Announces a Unique One-off London Show – PAST AND PRESENT
and a single in aid of Childline Rocks

Steve Hackett and the Electric Band will be performing a special, unique one-off show – Past and Present – at the Islington Assembly Hall, London on Sunday 20 May 2012 in aid of Childline Rocks. To coincide with the event, they will release a double ‘A’ side digital single ‘Til These Eyes’ coupled with ‘Enter The Night’ (Radio Mix) on 21st May (20th on iTunes); part of the sales revenue from the single will also go to the charity.

Walter Trout’s 21st album Blues for the Modern Daze will be released in the UK on Monday 23rd April (24th April in the US). The new album showcases the contemporary guitar legend’s return to his hardcore blues roots, with songwriting at a creative and personal zenith. Blues For The Modern Daze is Trout’s sixth recording for Provogue Records, a division of the Mascot Label Group, and his first full-fledged blues album in 23 years as a bandleader.

Trout’s practical schooling in blues started when he arrived in Los Angeles in 1973 and secured gigs behind Hooker, Big Mama Thornton, Finis Tasby, Pee Wee Crayton, Lowell Fulsom, Percy Mayfield and Joe Tex. By 1981 he joined the remaining original members of Canned Heat.

After a hugely successful 14-date UK and European tour in 2011, and having just returned from playing at the Volvo Ocean Race in Abu Dhabi, The Straits will be heading out on an 18-date European tour in March 2012.

The Straits are comprised of former Dire Straits members Alan Clark (keyboards) and Chris White (sax, vocals), plus world-class musicians Steve Ferrone (Tom Petty’s drummer), Terence Reis (lead vocals, guitar), Mike Feat (bass), Adam Phillips (guitar) and Jamie Squire (keyboards, vocals).

The Straits will perform for one night only in the UK, at London’s indigO2 on Thursday 29th March.

Metal Compass Agency are proud to announce the signing of Apparition, a British symphonic metal band, for the release of their second album entitled ‘For Vengeance …..And For Love’ which will be released in the UK on May 7th. Apparition have also signed a deal with Metal Compass Agency for management and promotion in the UK. David Homer, the band’s bass player, today says “When thinking whether to self release or try for a big label we opted for the middle ground and work with people we trust. Los Angeles, California: Fear Factory today confirms Matt DeVries as the band’s new bass player. DeVries, previously of Chimaira and most recently Six Feet Under, joins the band replacing Byron Stroud. The announcement comes as the band continues work on their upcoming new album, planned for release early summer. The album is currently being mixed in Canada by Greg Reely while artwork for the album’s packaging is nearly complete.
DeVries comments, “I have been asked by Dino and Burton to join one of my favorite bands. I have been a fan of Fear Factory since 1992 and I could not be more excited to be part of this incredible band. Hot off the incredible reception of his collaborative album LULU with Metallica, Lou Reed will embark on a “FROM VU TO LULU” European tour during Summer 2012.

The tour will start in Luxembourg on Wednesday 6th June and will take in several festivals, including Switzerland’s Caribana Festival, France’s Montereau Festival, Berlin’s Citadel Music Festival and Slovakia’s renowned Pohoda Festival. Lou will also perform several concerts in France, Holland, Belgium, Denmark, and Germany.
